LiteLLM compatibility gap matrix

This matrix tracks standalone Go Feather Route parity with the LiteLLM behavior currently consumed by Thingd Cloud. It is an engineering checklist, and migration checklist. Go Feather Route is the Cloud primary; LiteLLM remains the explicit rollback path.

AreaStatusEvidence or remaining workPriority
Chat endpoint and OpenAI request shapeSupportedRouter forwards the bounded request body to /v1/chat/completionsP0
JSON-object responsesPartialresponse_format is forwarded; add Cloud-shaped fixture assertions for OllamaP0
Model aliases and provider routingSupportedConfiguration routes aliases and translates Ollama aliases to upstream model namesP0
Gateway authenticationSupportedProtected API endpoints require the gateway bearer keyP0
Provider authenticationSupportedProvider keys are injected at runtime and sent upstreamP0
Non-streaming usage passthroughSupportedUpstream response and headers are copied within response limitsP0
Streaming SSE forwardingPartialForwarding and termination exist; verify Cloud stream parsing and final usage with OllamaP0
Client cancellationPartialRequest context is propagated; add provider-observed cancellation fixtureP0
Bounded retries and ordered fallbacksSupportedRetryable HTTP responses advance through configured providers; ambiguous transport failures are not replayedP0
Timeout behaviorSupportedRequest context uses the configured upstream timeoutP1
Embedding endpointSupportedSingle and batch forwarding plus response validation tests exist; Ollama alias mapping is coveredP0
Embedding worker payloadsNot verifiedReplay the Cloud worker-shaped batch and failure casesP0
Project memory workloadsNot verifiedValidate indexing, retrieval, dimensions, and rebuild behavior through the gatewayP0
OpenAI-compatible errorsPartialError forwarding exists; compare exact Cloud error parsing and status expectationsP1
Request ID propagationSupportedGateway request ID is forwarded as X-Request-IDP1
Usage and reservation accountingSupportedGo Feather emits idempotent normalized usage events; Cloud deduplicates by request ID and owns quotas/settlementP0
Cloud caching and quotasCloud-ownedMust remain outside the gateway and be tested during a future integration phaseP0
Health and readinessSupportedLiveness, readiness, status, model status, and metrics endpoints existP1
Low-memory operationMeasured baselineRepeat representative workloads with immutable images and recorded cgroup dataP1

Priority meaning

  • P0 — required before any Cloud integration review.
  • P1 — required before a compatibility-focused release.

The matrix should be updated only when source, tests, or reproducible benchmark evidence changes the status. It must not be used to enable Go Feather Route in Thingd Cloud.
